Daneele Thorpe, MA., is a 6th-year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. candidate at Stony Brook University specializing in working with children and adolescents. Specifically, she provides clinical care to children and adolescents who present with disruptive behavior, anxiety, and trauma. She is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Adolescents (DBT-A), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
In addition to her work with TMB Psychological Services, Daneele has trained in several other settings including the Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Stony Brook Leonard Krasner Psychological Center.
Daneele received her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Public Health & Policy from Franklin and Marshall College in 2018 with the support of the Posse Foundation Leadership Scholarship. She graduated with her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Stonybrook in 2020 and is currently completing her doctorate at Stony Brook University, and is supported by the Dr. W. Burghardt Turner Fellowship for underrepresented scholars and the National Science Foundation graduate research Fellowship (NSF-GRFP). Her research interests include understanding how neighborhood factors (e.g., resource access, and community safety) shape parenting and young children’s development in urban communities.
Daneele is passionate about her work with communities across New York City and giving back to a community that became her home after emigrating from Jamaica.
