Laura Feliz is in her 3rd year of a Master’s in Social Work program at Rutgers State University and is expected to graduate in 2024. Much of Laura’s clinical work has focused on the assessment and treatment of childhood anxiety, behavior difficulties, parent-management training, parent-child interaction therapy, trauma-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and providing mental health services in pediatric health settings. Additionally, she is interested in using therapy as a tool to unpack how intergenerational trauma and racial trauma impact individuals and families. As a first-generation Afro-Latina from the Dominican Republic, Laura believes strongly that when she is able to integrate a person’s and/or family’s cultural experience into treatment she is able to be a stronger advocate, create more trust, and increase her ability to provide comprehensive care with cultural awareness and humility.
Laura received her B.A. in Psychology from Montclair State University in 2017. In addition to her work as a graduate student, Laura currently works at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center as a Clinical Case Manager.
Laura is a native Spanish speaker and provides treatment in Spanish to bilingual families.
Laura is under the supervision of Dr. Brown.
